Good but not perfect I also own a 320gb toughdrive and a 160gb WD passport USB drive. Both are pretty similar in use, except the toughdrive (with its integral but short USB lead) is slightly fiddly to connect to my laptop. Also, for some reason the blue activity light in the toughdrive lead sometimes goes out and fails to work for days at a time (a friend's toughdrive also has this problem when used with his PC). Can't go wrong As you would expect from freecom a solid well built drive, enormous amount of space. Agree with another reviewer, not the fastest transfer rate but ultra reliable.
Excellent... This hard drive has a lot going for it: it's small, slim and easy to carry, it looks great, it's extremely well designed (rubberised coating, built in retractable USB connector etc.), and it'll still work if you drop it... well that's what they claim and although you're not likely to want to test this feature out there's nothing in these reviews that suggests otherwise - certainly, having dropped a previous Freecom 80 gigabyte portable drive onto concrete and (after sticking the casing back together) been... more info
Worth the extra for the its capacity and durability I chose this drive for capacity (I want full back-ups of two laptops) and durability (it will travel regularly.) It works fine on both a Dell and a Sony laptop, with or without the short extension usb cable provided. I can't vouch for transfer speed as I tend to go and make coffee while it does its stuff, but it's very quiet and gets only slightly warm after prolonged use.
