Call of Duty returns, and to many people’s surprise, it’s going back to World War II. While original series creators Infinity Ward brought the series into the modern day, developer Treyarch are setting out to make the definitive historical first-person shooter.

The game is primarily set in the Pacific theatre and has a much more realistic, violent tone requiring less-linear game play than previous Call of Duty installments. You'll struggle to survive Japanese attacks without mastering new gaming skills, like swimming or how to use a flamethrower--a weapon that packs some punch in the fully destructable game world.
Also featured is a campaign on the Eastern front, where you take control of a soldier in the Soviet Red Army during the attack on Berlin in the closing stages of the war. The game also includes the series’ first co-op mode, while the competitive multiplayer mode aims to build upon the achievements of Call of Duty 4 and add to the game’s longevity.

Don't buy this if you want to play your friends online! The offline single player game is good but it is let down by the online multiplayer. I can't comment about the online co operative game as to date since the launch i have been unable to connect to any friends on PSN to find out.
There is no information from Treyarch about what is being done to fix this and there are thousands of people suffering the same problems.
Personally i will not be buying any more Treyarch products and am considering returing this game as it does not work... more info
Pretty Boring The campaign is very good but maybe a little too short, whereas the online is more difficult than COD4 and gets very boring after a while. So i am going to stick to Little Big Planet, FIFA 09 and Call of Duty 4...
treyarch fail again Treyarch are lucky infinity ward exist so they can copy COD4's multiplayer because otherwise this game would be a total truckload of fail! The single player is one of the worst I have ever played and actually manages to have AI worse than killzone 1!!!(a new record I think) The multiplayer is only good because treyarch copied COD4 but I have played so much of COD4's multiplayer that I grew tired of this games multiplayer very quickly. Great game! Taking the COD4 engine works a dream with this game. It does feel familiar, but its still a great game in itself! Really this game is about playing online - at the moment there are bugs, quite annoying ones, so I hope they plan to fix that in a patch. Good to see the ranks, and other small tweaks made here. Nice to see your stats online and compare to friends too.
