To polarise a needle to use as a compass, Do NOT wrap a wire round it and leave it connected for 5 MINUTES ....to a battery.. You can just touch the wires onto a battery for a couple of seconds to do the same job..and not waste a maybe essential battery.( you are shorting it out ) and that`s never a... more info
