GARDEN GADGETS

The garden is a refuge for many people. After the stresses and hustle bustle of the working week, many people find walking the mower around the lawn or planting some flowers an extremely stress-busting and peaceful way to while away some time. The more committed may even take on an allotment, and try to make it so that they can grow a little bit of the fruit and vegetables their household might need; after all, this is a recession, and we need all the help we can get!

However, technology has moved on in so many ways that it would be remiss of you to set forth into your garden, merely armed with a rusty trowel and a wheelbarrow with a wonky wheel that squeaks incessantly. When there is a computer, flat-screen television and recordable TV box in your house and a mobile phone in your pocket, why not bring some specialist garden gadgets to bear in the garden and try and improve your harvest?

For starters, anyone knows that, when you are growing things, the weather can have a big impact on how your crop fares. So, to help with this, you could get yourself a multi-function weatherstation. This has a number of features, such as an external rain gauge, an anemometer and an outdoor sensor for temperature. It also displays the time and date so you don't lose track of time when you're working away.

Now, it might be that you are the most animal friendly person on earth, but it has to be said that birds can be a nuisance if you have just planted seeds. As this is pretty much the easiest lunch a bird can get, swooping down to snap up the seed, then they cause a massive problem. To combat this without actively hurting the birds, you can get a Solar Powered Bird Repeller. This has a sort of helicopter set up with a large radius, which swings and disrupts birds from flying down, keeping your seeds in the ground, where they are supposed to be!

One thing that would be truly useful to anyone growing produce in their garden or allotment is the Intelligent Sprinkler Controller. Attaching itself to your spigot and sprinklers, the Sprinkler Controller schedules regular watering of your plants and flowers. However, what makes it stand out is that it has a built in barometer that anticipates the weather, meaning that if it rains at any point close to a scheduled watering, this watering will be cancelled, with no overall effect to the schedule. This is obviously very clever, as it saves drowning your plants and it means you do not always have to attend to watering as it does it itself!

Moving away from actual tools and specifically useful things as such, why not stock up on a couple of things to make a hard, hot afternoon down at your allotment a little more tolerable? For instance, hooking up a little drinks fridge can help keep water, pop or, if you have worked really hard, beer ice cold to refresh you when you take some respite from your toils. Furthermore, while you are working away, why not have some speakers set up so you can listen along to the radio or your favourite music as you work?

All in all, this is just a selection of things that you can use in the garden, and there are a multitude of and gadget for gadgets for men and women online for all sorts of situations and occasions.
